Official Visit Minister of Health Malaysia to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Papar Hospital

On 12 and 13 June 2025, the Minister of Health Malaysia, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, conducted an official visit to several healthcare facilities across Sabah. Accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and representatives from the management of the hospitals and facilities involved, this visit underscored MOH’s commitment to strengthening the public healthcare system, engaging with frontline personnel, and ensuring that healthcare development projects are implemented in a sustainable and inclusive manner.


Hospital Queen Elizabeth II (HQE II), Kota Kinabalu | 12 June 2025

The official visit commenced at Hospital Queen Elizabeth II, where the Minister was accompanied by:

  • YBhg. Dato’ Sri Suriani Dato’ Ahmad, Secretary-General, MOH
  • YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mahathar Abd Wahab, Director-General of Health
  • YBhg. Dato’ Zahrul Hakin Abdullah, Deputy Secretary-General (Finance), MOH
  • Dr. Maria Suleiman, Sabah State Health Director
  • Dr. Ferro Firdaus Ibrahim, Director of HQE II

Key highlights of the visit included:

  • A dedicated session with house officers (medical graduates)
  • The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MOH and Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM) to expand the Cancer Navigation Service, a crucial initiative in supporting cancer patients nationwide
  • Official handover of 100 Hemodialysis Machines to enhance nephrology treatment access

The Minister also conducted a walkabout across various hospital facilities and expressed admiration for the cleanliness and maintenance standards of the hospital restrooms, managed by Sedafiat Sdn Bhd, noting that the quality was on par with hotel-grade facilities.


Hospital Papar Upgrade Project Site | 13 June 2025

The visit continued at the Hospital Papar upgrade project site, aimed at reviewing the progress of healthcare infrastructure development in the Papar parliamentary constituency.

Also present during this visit were:

  • YB Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living and Member of Parliament for Papar
  • YBhg. Datuk Azah Hanim binti Ahmad, Deputy Secretary-General (Management), MOH
  • Dr. Hj Samsul Ag. Tuah, Director of Hospital Papar
  • Representatives from Public Works Department (JKR) and the project developer

The visit focused on:

  • Reviewing project progress and milestones
  • Identifying challenges and emerging issues
  • Strategising proactive solutions in collaboration with stakeholders

Throughout both visits, Sedafiat Sdn Bhd’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hj Ag Buhtamam Hj Ag Mahmun, accompanied the official delegation, reflecting the company’s full support for national healthcare development initiatives.
