SUCCESSFUL ORGANISATION OF KARNIVAL SIHAT LABUAN 2026 AND THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF SEDAFIAT SDN. BHD.
The successful organisation of Karnival Sihat Labuan 2026, held on 19 and 20 September 2026, recorded an encouraging turnout, attracting an estimated 3,000 visitors throughout the two-day programme. The strong participation from the local community and healthcare sector demonstrated the growing awareness among the Labuan community of healthy lifestyle practices and environmental sustainability.
The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by YBrs. En. Simsudin bin Sidek, Deputy Chairman of Perbadanan Labuan, and Dr. Valentine @ Japulee Gantul, Deputy State Health Director, Public Health Division, Labuan Federal Territory Health Department. Their presence further highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening and advancing the public health agenda.
A key highlight of Sedafiat Sdn. Bhd. Labuan’s participation, as the hospital support services concessionaire, was the demonstration on converting used cooking oil into candles. The initiative not only served as an engaging attraction at the exhibition booth but also effectively conveyed an important environmental sustainability message aligned with the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles within the context of hospital facilities management and concession services.

Responsible disposal and proper management of used cooking oil can significantly reduce the risk of clogged piping systems and grease trap failures in hospital kitchen facilities and residential premises.

The practice also helps minimise the risk of pest and vector proliferation as well as unpleasant odours, thereby contributing to the maintenance of high cleanliness and hygiene standards within hospital environments.
